For years, Sinamay fabric have been widely used as hat making, ornaments and packaging material. The firm fiber that is 3 times stronger than cotton and silk, easy to shape the material with dramatic shapes, natural and easy to dye for desire colors are all reasons why sinamay is so popular as millinery supply.
Sinamay is made with abaca yarn from banana palm, is an eco-friendly material native from Philippines. There are many grades for sinamay based on the thickness of fiber, the weaving density and colors of fiber.
Sinamay often applied with sizing for stiffness and help to adhesive layers of sinamay when blocking the hat. Some other sinamay version includes : printed sinamay, luxurious sinamay, pleated sinamay are also available as your design elements.
Machine Weave Sinamay Fabric
As for machine made sinamay, we will write: Sun Yorkos is the expert to manufacture via machine weaved sinamay, it produced more even weaving and are give more bodies than regular hand-weave sinamay. It has less nodes and more even textile than hand weaved. During mist of steam or water processing can easily be moulded, reshaped, curled or twisted. It is perfect material for spring summer hats, headpieces, and embellishment accessories making.
